The Perfect Treadmill Workout Clothes – Think Comfort and Safety
Some people don’t feel that having special workout clothing is important or don’t the time to shop for them. It’s true that many of us barely have time to get on the treadmill, much less buy all the right tops and bottoms.
The fact is, shopping for a workout wardrobe can be a lot of fun these days. Things have changed in the world of workout clothing. The new trends are quite stylish and attractive. To the contrary, back in the day, or 1980’s, everybody wore Spandex biking shorts and leg warmers.
Today, there are many choices, and wanting to be fashionable is common, especially in the gyms. However, while we don’t want to look dumpy in our workout clothes, we must consider that these outfits do have a purpose.
Basically, when you clothes are frayed or loose, they can be a hazard when using exercise equipment. All in all, the two most important factors when choosing workout clothing are comfort and safety.
Baggy clothing can become entangled in workout equipment. Loose pants and untied shoe laces can even become bound in the tracks of the treadmill. Working out in shorts or a fitted pair of pants is your best option when you spend time exercising. This is especially true for a person who is overweight. Chafing can occur when loose clothing is worn during a workout. Chafing is something you definitely want to avoid.
The best option for a treadmill workout wardrobe is short pants. Shorts are perfect because they stay out of the way while you walk. Fitted shorts are best but they are not mandatory by any means. You do not have to purchase Spandex to have a good workout. Comfortable shorts in a breathable fabric are preferred by most trainers.
A more fitted pair of shorts under a loose pair will keep your inner thigh from chafing during a long walk on the treadmill. If you really want to wear a longer pair of pants, choose tights or pants made specifically for your type of exercise. These clothes will be made from materials that wick moisture away from the body and dry quickly. Nothing makes a workout more uncomfortable than soggy clothing.
T-shirts and tank tops are another good choice for your treadmill workout. You will want to stay cool, so avoid the 100% cotton shirts that hold moisture. Light colors are popular among women at the gym and of course, basic black is also a favorite. Many people choose to cut the sleeves off of their t-shirts when they are used for exercising. This is common practice and might help to keep your arms cooler during vigorous exercise.
While you must make sure your clothing is conducive to being safe and comfortable, it can still be trendy. Secondly, it need not be expensive, but should be good quality; including your athletic shoes.
